Geographic Information Science (GIS) is a rapidly evolving discipline focused on gathering, organizing, interpreting, and sharing location-based data pertaining to Earth's surface, atmosphere, and subsurface. This interdisciplinary field holds increasing significance across various academic domains and professional sectors such as: Urban and regional planning, Architectural design, Civil and environmental engineering, Geological and meteorological sciences, Ecological studies, Government policy, Sustainable development research. The STEM-certified Master of Science in Geographic Information Science and Technology (MS-GIST) comprises 34 credit hours. Full-time learners can finish this graduate program within twelve months, involving two semesters of intensive coursework followed by a summer capstone project.
Those studying part-time typically require two to three academic years plus an additional summer term to complete the capstone project and systems design components.
Applicants must have an 3.0/4.0 undergraduate GPA and a 3.5/4.0 master’s degree GPA if applicable.
The minimum score for graduate admission required by Georgia Tech is: IELTS: 7.0 Overall Band score and minimum Component Band scores of: 6.5 Reading, 6.5 Listening, 6.5 Speaking, 5.5 Writing,
TOEFL iBT Scores, if applicable, with a minimum of 100.
The MS-GIST program has two deadlines. To be considered for merit-based departmental aid, such as fellowships and GRAs, applications must be submitted in full by January 15th. All other applications should be submitted by March 15th.
