Optics and Photonics focuses on researching lasers, optics, and holographic technologies. This discipline explores laser applications, optical information processing, nonlinear optical phenomena, fiber optic communications, photonic computing, optical storage solutions, optical engineering, and holographic techniques. These core technologies serve as the foundation for next-generation high-bandwidth communication infrastructure, including advanced telecom and data networks. The ECE department provides graduate students with continuous opportunities as Research or Teaching Assistants. Nearly all doctoral candidates obtain financial assistance through teaching or research positions.

Qualification Requirements
Most students who are accepted into the School of ECE's graduate program have a degree in electrical and/or computer engineering. Applicants with degrees in other engineering disciplines, computer science, mathematics, or the physical sciences are also eligible to apply. Qualified applicants with degrees in disciplines other than electrical and/or computer engineering are encouraged to take undergraduate ECE courses as prerequisites before enrolling in ECE graduate courses. Persons with engineering technology (EET) degrees or persons with non-engineering degrees not mentioned above must first earn a bachelor's or master's of science degree in one of the disciplines listed above before applying to our graduate program. Official transcripts are welcomed but are only submitted if an acceptance has been offered. IELTS - 7 (minimum band score for Reading, Listening, and Speaking is 6.5, minimum band score for Writing is 5.5), TOEFL iBT - 90 (each section must score 19 or higher),TOEFL PBT - 577.
