Nanotechnology explores the control of matter at atomic and molecular levels. Typically, it focuses on structures measuring 1 to 100 nanometers in at least one dimension, creating materials or devices with features in this range. At this tiny scale, quantum effects play a crucial role. The field spans various applications, from advancing traditional device physics to innovative molecular self-assembly techniques, and from designing nanoscale materials to manipulating atoms directly. Future potential and consequences of nanotechnology remain widely discussed.
