The Bachelor of Science in Public Policy (BS PP) offers a comprehensive program that blends analytical training with in-depth exploration of policy topics and the societal factors influencing public decisions. The BS PP core curriculum equips students with essential knowledge of political, economic, and philosophical frameworks, along with quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques, while examining the social and political contexts of policy discussions and implementation.
The program progresses from fundamental disciplines (including political science, economics, philosophy, and organizational studies) to research methodologies and data analysis, followed by specialized policy examinations. Students specialize in two focus areas from options like environmental and energy policy, science and technology policy, urban and social policy, philosophy, or politics and policy, with additional elective choices in fields such as information technology policy, bioethics, and regional planning. Internships, research projects, and international study opportunities are available to all students. The BS PP concludes with a yearlong capstone project where student teams collaborate with external organizations (such as the CDC, Marcus Autism Center, National MS Society, or Atlanta Food Bank) to address real-world policy challenges.
