The mechanical engineering (ME) undergraduate program offers a comprehensive and adaptable curriculum. It includes a foundational ME core, a design and professional-practice component, and 15 credit hours of free electives. This structure equips students to become effective problem solvers, ready to enter diverse industries or pursue advanced studies in graduate school. The ME program places significant emphasis on design, innovation, and experiential learning. To accommodate the broad career paths available to mechanical engineers, the curriculum integrates subjects like electronics, materials science, computer programming, and manufacturing. With ample free elective credits, students can pursue minors and certificates across the Institute or focus on specialized ME areas. This flexibility also supports participation in various special programs, such as co-ops, internships, study abroad opportunities, and undergraduate research.
