The biotechnology sector plays a pivotal role in today's global economy. Innovations driven by this industry have transformed healthcare, agriculture, and environmental solutions throughout the 21st century. Recent decades have witnessed significant growth in biotechnology, impacting numerous facets of modern life and society.
Our Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology provides a Master of Science program in Biotechnology, featuring a curriculum that embraces the field's interdisciplinary nature. This program combines scientific theory with hands-on laboratory work, alongside specialized courses in BioBusiness, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, and regulatory affairs. The 30-credit program can be completed in one year or extended for working professionals pursuing part-time study. The M.S. degree offers five distinct specialization paths.
The Individualized Track enables students to tailor their coursework to align with personal interests and professional goals.
Students may select electives from the BioBusiness, BioScience, Cell & Gene Therapy, and Drug Design & Discovery tracks, or from other Georgetown University programs. During the second semester, participants also have the option to switch to alternative tracks.
