The epidemiology program tackles health disparities as a fundamental focus across local, national, and international settings through classroom instruction, practical experiences, and hands-on research culminating in a thesis. Students complete a series of required courses covering epidemiology fundamentals, health disparities studies, and concentration introductions before selecting one of three specialization tracks for their elective coursework and thesis topic. Our program enables students to: grasp social justice and health equity principles, identify biological, social, and economic factors contributing to health inequalities worldwide, receive rigorous scientific training in epidemiological theory, policy, and research methods for studying health disparities, learn to implement epidemiological approaches in health disparity investigations, appreciate the value of community-based participatory research in reducing health inequities, and identify prevalent health disparities while mastering strategies to address them
