Consistently recognized among the country's premier tax law programs, Georgetown Law's Graduate Tax Program provides an exceptional blend of distinguished full-time and adjunct professors, the most extensive course selection nationwide, and the chance to learn tax law in Washington, D.C. – the epicenter where laws are crafted, analyzed, and implemented.
The Tax LL.M. program at Georgetown welcomes both U.S. juris doctor holders and international law graduates. Participants can pursue their degree either on-campus or online, with full-time or part-time options. Full-time candidates typically finish within two semesters, while part-time students usually complete requirements in three years, with potential extensions considered individually.
Georgetown's comprehensive tax curriculum presents over 60 advanced courses and seminars spanning all facets of tax law. Beyond a foundational federal income taxation course (typically completed by U.S. J.D. students), the program requires only 24 credits for U.S.-trained students and 20 credits for international students. Participants enjoy complete flexibility to tailor their studies to professional goals, supported by personalized academic guidance and extensive career development resources. They may explore diverse practice areas or focus on specific tax law specialties. Additionally, Georgetown provides three certificate programs in Employee Benefits, Estate Planning, and International Taxation, available both on-campus and online alongside the Taxation LL.M. degree.
