The program aims to give students comprehensive understanding of Italian culture through literary, linguistic, and historical lenses, equipping them with key critical and cultural theories while teaching practical application. It fosters interdisciplinary research skills for coursework and thesis development, while advancing Italian language proficiency through on-campus classes and a semester abroad at an Italian university. Students will refine expertise in their chosen cultural specialization area.

These objectives are pursued through two specialized tracks: one concentrating on Italian literature and culture, the other on language teaching and second-language acquisition. Each track includes tailored study abroad components at partner universities offering optimal training in these disciplines.
