The Asian history graduate program at Georgetown allows students to learn from globally recognized experts while accessing Washington D.C.'s vast research collections, including those at the National Archives, Library of Congress, and Smithsonian Institution. Our faculty specialize in various aspects of Asian history from early modern to contemporary periods, with expertise in medical history, Christianity in Asia, Chinese Inner Asia, environmental history, Japanese urban studies, colonialism, and Asia's global connections. The program encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration with faculty across geographic and thematic boundaries, including environmental, imperial, and transnational studies. Students can also engage with Georgetown's Asia-focused scholars in government, economics, law, art history, and theology departments.
