Georgetown's MAGIC program, a Master of Arts in Global, International and Comparative History, enables students to cultivate a worldwide historical outlook while exploring diverse approaches to international historical analysis. This program equips participants for careers in global affairs while also preparing them for advanced academic pursuits. Students gain specialized knowledge about specific world regions while simultaneously examining these areas through transnational, comparative, and thematic lenses. Participants receive comprehensive instruction in historical research methodologies, foreign language proficiency, and critical analysis and composition abilities. Alumni have pursued successful paths in government agencies, non-governmental organizations, international corporations, and prestigious PhD programs in History and allied fields. The History Department stands at the forefront of transnational historical education and research, with particular expertise in Atlantic and Pacific studies, international diplomacy, cross-cultural exchanges, environmental history, and gender comparisons. Our student body reflects the global nature of their academic focus.
