Georgetown's MAGIC program, a Master of Arts in Global, International and Comparative History, enables students to cultivate a historical understanding of our interconnected planet while offering diverse pathways to explore international historical perspectives. This program equips participants with essential skills for careers in global affairs while thoroughly preparing them for advanced academic pursuits. Participants immerse themselves in regional histories while simultaneously examining these areas through transnational, comparative, and thematic lenses. The curriculum delivers comprehensive instruction in historical research methodologies, foreign language proficiency, and critical analysis and composition abilities. Alumni have pursued successful careers in government, non-governmental organizations, international commerce, and prestigious PhD programs across historical and related fields. The History Department pioneers transnational historical approaches in both teaching and research, with particular expertise in Atlantic/Pacific studies, international diplomacy, cross-cultural exchanges, environmental history, and gender comparisons. Our student body reflects the global nature of their academic focus.
