The Women's and Gender Studies Program provides options for both a major and minor, focusing on interdisciplinary examination of women's rights, sexual rights, and gender equity worldwide. This program critically analyzes how race, ethnicity, class, gender, and sexuality intersect, while promoting scholarship about diverse gender experiences and challenging conventional academic perspectives. Students in Women's and Gender Studies are urged to participate in community service, either on their own or through Community-Based Learning courses.
At Georgetown College, students can pursue either a major or minor in Women's and Gender Studies, while the School of Foreign Service provides a minor option. Prospective students should reach out to the program director, Professor Nadia Brown, or associate director, Professor You-me Park, preferably during their sophomore year to discuss academic planning.
