The department holds a crucial position across Georgetown University's educational initiatives. Initially, it supports the core curriculum through two essential courses: The Problem of God and Introduction to Biblical Literature, which are options for the first required course. For the second requirement, students can choose from the department's diverse course catalog. Additionally, the department offers four specialized tracks for undergraduate majors: Christian theology, religious ethics, biblical studies, and religious studies.
Biblical Studies Concentration: Tailored for students seeking in-depth exploration of biblical texts, their historical contexts, formation processes, and interpretive methods. The curriculum includes: two foundational seminars (one Hebrew Scripture Seminar from the 4120-4140 series and one New Testament Seminar from the 4150-4170 series), three additional advanced courses chosen with guidance from the program advisor, three more approved intermediate or advanced courses, and the culminating Senior Seminar in Religious Pluralism (4969).
