The Department of Mathematics and Statistics provides two undergraduate degree options. The A.B. program caters to students aiming for graduate studies or careers in fields beyond mathematics, such as medicine, law, business, finance, journalism, government work, or K-12 education. The B.S. program is tailored for those pursuing advanced mathematics studies or mathematical careers. Prospective math majors or minors should schedule an advising session with the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Students exploring a mathematics major are advised to enroll in Introduction to Proof and Problem Solving (200) after completing Calculus II, ideally by their sophomore fall semester. This foundational course offers insight into advanced mathematical thinking and helps students evaluate their interest in pursuing mathematics further.
