Georgetown's MAGIC program, a Master of Arts in Global, International and Comparative History, enables students to cultivate a historical understanding of our interconnected planet. This program creates diverse pathways for learners to explore the challenges and revelations emerging from an international historical viewpoint. It establishes groundwork for professional involvement in global affairs while also preparing students for advanced doctoral research. Participants immerse themselves in regional histories while simultaneously examining these areas through transnational, comparative, and thematic lenses. The curriculum delivers comprehensive instruction in historical methodologies, foreign language acquisition, and analytical writing competencies. Alumni have pursued careers across various sectors including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, international commerce, and prestigious PhD programs in History and related fields. The History Department pioneers the increasing focus on transnational historical studies in both teaching and faculty research, with particular expertise in Atlantic/Pacific World studies, international diplomacy, cultural exchanges, global environmental issues, and comparative gender studies. Our student body reflects the global nature of their academic pursuits.
