The Department of French and Francophone Studies provides both an A.B. Degree program and a minor option. Students majoring in French and Francophone Studies at Georgetown benefit from unique opportunities that help them reach exceptional levels of language mastery and cultural understanding compared to students at other leading institutions. Once language proficiency is attained, majors gain profound critical insights into French and Francophone cultures and literary works, develop analytical skills for text interpretation, and enhance their linguistic expertise by studying diverse subject areas. Qualified majors may also undertake a Senior Honors Thesis, serving as the culmination of their academic journey while strengthening their research and writing abilities. Course selection should be made in collaboration with advisors and the Director of Undergraduate Studies, aligning with students' educational and professional aspirations.
