Students have the option to pursue a Juris Doctor degree from GW Law School simultaneously with either a Master of Public Administration or Master of Public Policy. These combined degree programs typically take four years to finish, saving one year compared to completing them independently. Applicants must gain separate admission to both the Law School and either the MPA or MPP program in Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. During their first year, dual degree students focus exclusively on the mandatory Law School curriculum. In subsequent years, they blend law courses with their chosen public administration or policy studies. The program allows transferring up to 12 Law School credits toward the Trachtenberg School's 40-credit requirement, while up to 12 MPA/MPP credits can apply to the Law School's 84-credit requirement.
