Founded in 1974 as a pioneering initiative, the Master of Arts in Teaching in Museum Education sets the standard for museums and cultural institutions to foster equitable, compassionate communities. This program develops visionary educators who create transformative learning experiences that connect individuals to their personal journeys, local communities, and global perspectives.
Our distinguished faculty, recognized leaders bridging theory and practice, deliver comprehensive academic training paired with hands-on implementation of museum education strategies. Students gain experience at renowned institutions ranging from the National Zoological Park to the International Spy Museum and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Supported by an extensive alumni network and partnerships with industry professionals, 95% of our graduates from recent years now work in museum education and related lifelong learning fields. Many assume leadership roles as education directors, with several advancing to museum director positions.
