The International Science and Technology Policy Program (ISTP) at the Elliott School of International Affairs provides students with core competencies in diverse science and technology policy areas while allowing specialization in a tailored concentration area - all framed within an international perspective. Advancements in science, technology, and innovation significantly influence our standard of living, ecological sustainability, global competitiveness, and defense capabilities. Policy-making bodies govern and direct progress across multiple domains including IT, biotech, materials science, space research, energy systems, environmental management, and other emerging fields. Beyond classroom instruction in policy evaluation, research methodologies, and tech policy matters, ISTP scholars gain practical understanding of worldwide policy effects and can apply their knowledge through professional internships and career placements. Alumni emerge prepared to lead in science, technology, and innovation policy across government agencies, corporations, and non-governmental organizations.
