As neighbors to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, the Elliott School facilitates substantive dialogues on development policy with Washington and global policymakers. Its international development studies (IDS) graduate program has become the most rapidly expanding offering within the Elliott School of International Affairs. This program equips future development professionals with cutting-edge research insights, field-tested methodologies, and hands-on learning experiences.
The master's degree in international development studies delivers comprehensive knowledge of contemporary development theories and challenges, along with the policy-making and project implementation processes. Through interdisciplinary studies encompassing economics, research methodologies, policy evaluation, and management, students gain professional preparation for international development careers. During their culminating year, IDS candidates undertake capstone initiatives, collaborating with faculty advisors and international aid agencies.
