Bachelor's Degree
This concentration's curriculum focuses on developing and utilizing methods to characterize and forecast how materials (including crystalline and polycrystalline metals, insulators, semiconductors, amorphous substances, and composites) and structures (from individual components to complete machines, spacecraft, bridges, and other constructions) interact with their physical surroundings. Through engineering mechanics studies, you'll have access to resources from GW's Physics and Chemistry Departments while specializing in:
Continuum mechanics with a focus on solids
Materials science and their properties
Applied mathematical methods
Computational and finite element techniques
