Modern concepts and evolving requirements are transforming education for both instructors and students. Educators' roles are evolving. Effectively teaching every child demands mastery of theory, practical skills, and advocacy. This program encompasses ability, disability, development, reflective practice, family dynamics, and legal considerations. The formative years of children with special needs can profoundly influence their academic journey. The program's first objective equips teachers with understanding of development and evaluation methods for young children with Special Needs (from birth to 2nd grade). The second goal develops teacher proficiency in intervention approaches, including spontaneous adjustments, adaptations, differentiation, response to intervention (RTI), and fostering positive behaviors. The third aim prepares educators to champion the rights of children, families, and the teaching profession. A diverse knowledge foundation combined with strong leadership capabilities is essential for special education teachers to effectively support children with disabilities and their families.
This certification program offers challenging academic coursework to build the competencies required for effective teaching and service provision to young children with disabilities. Theoretical learning is complemented by practical field observations and student teaching opportunities that translate concepts into real-world practice.
