The Associate in Science in Steamfitting & Pipefitting Technology program collaborates with the Pipe Trades Training Center apprenticeship. This five-year apprenticeship demands at least 9,000 hours of hands-on training. Upon completing both classroom education and paid work experience, graduates achieve journeyperson status in the Pipe Trades field, contributing to environmental protection through expert installation and upkeep of piping for heating, cooling, and industrial systems. The program combines coursework, lab sessions, and practical training, covering pipe system evaluation, installation, maintenance, repairs, tool safety, material usage, relevant math and science, and storage methods. The degree expands upon the Certificate of Achievement in Steamfitting & Pipefitting Technology by incorporating general education and elective courses. Admission to the Pipe Trades Training Center apprenticeship requires a 75% passing score on the Pipe Trades Entrance Exam, assessing math and mechanical aptitude. Qualified candidates are chosen from a waitlist prioritized by exam date and results.
