Social justice promotes the principle that every individual in a community deserves fair treatment and access to opportunities. The field of Social Justice Studies identifies systemic disparities—especially concerning race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality—and strives to foster greater fairness in society. It critically evaluates societal injustices, including discrimination, economic inequality, and violence rooted in racism, sexism, and homophobia. Additionally, Social Justice Studies explores policy solutions to address these inequities and build a more just society. The Associate in Arts in Social Justice Studies for Transfer Degree equips students for seamless transition into California State University (CSU) programs. Graduates gain priority admission for Social Justice Studies and related majors within the CSU system. This degree meets lower-division major prerequisites at numerous regional CSU campuses. Students should consult with an advisor to confirm course requirements at specific CSU institutions and determine which campuses qualify as local.
