Grades
At least a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average GPA in all coursework attempted while registered as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree, OR
A graduate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, AND
TEST SCORES - Scores will be considered by the department for up to 5 years after the exam is taken. If ETS will not send your scores but it has been within 5 years since you sat for an exam, please include your official test score copy in your online application. FSU's school code is 5219
GRE Scores- The GRE IS REQUIRED for Ph.D. applicants, however, FSU is waiving the GRE for MS applicants for spring and fall 2024.
Letters of Recommendation - 3 Required
Preferably academic and/or professional letters
Resume and/or Curriculum Vitae
Include all relevant academic and work
Statement of Purpose
A 1-3 page statement describing your background, accomplishments, and goals
Unofficial Transcript(s) from all previous institutions.
The minimum scores accepted are:
Quantitative Reasoning (Q) score: 155
Verbal Reasoning (V) score: 146
English-speaking Scores - if your first language is not English, you must submit an English-speaking test score.
If you do not wish to be considered for funding, you must have a minimum score of the following on one of the following tests:
Internet Based TOEFL (IBTOEFL): 80
Paper based TOEFL (TOEFL): 550
Michigan Language Assessment: 55 (Fall 2022 and Forward)
International English Language Testing System (Academic IELTS): 6.5
Cambridge C1 Advanced Level: 180 (Fall 2022 and Forward)
Pearson Test of English (PTE): 55
Duolingo: 120 (Summer 2022 and Forward)
To be considered for departmental graduate teaching assistantships, you must have at least the following:
TOEFL Overall: 90
Speaking score: 23
