The Mathematics Education specialization within the Curriculum and Instruction graduate program equips you to connect academic research with classroom practice in math instruction. This program provides online master's options in mathematics education alongside on-campus master's, specialist (Ed.S.), and doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees, featuring foundational courses that explore learning theories and curriculum design through historical lenses. Throughout your Ph.D., Ed.S., or master's journey in mathematics education, you'll acquire modern methodological insights into both educator development and student mathematical understanding. Our curriculum offers students a comprehensive overview of mathematics education, with courses taught by faculty whose expertise spans from special education to collegiate-level math instruction. A unifying theme throughout our program is examining teacher development across diverse settings, with special attention to how educators respond to student reasoning to foster inclusive learning. Our college provides an ideal environment for students to investigate their academic interests through interdisciplinary coursework and collaborative initiatives, and we actively encourage you to engage with these opportunities.
