The International Affairs Graduate Program aims to enhance students' proficiency in languages, historical contexts, cultural understanding, and current political and economic landscapes worldwide. Participants are urged to pursue internships or study overseas, enriching their academic journey with practical, hands-on experiences.
This curriculum equips graduates for global roles across various sectors, including government agencies, corporate entities, NGOs, media outlets, academic research, and education. Qualification Requirements

Earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Please note: ALL international applicants or degrees earned from international institutions must submit their official transcripts through the SpanTran pathway portal, or from another NACES approved evaluator. Florida State University recommends SpanTran as our preferred credential evaluation because it offers an easy way to streamline the application process. A minimum of 3.0 (on a 4.0) in all work attempted while registered as an upper-division undergraduate student (the semester you earn 60 credit hours).
*WAIVED UNTIL 2026* GRE scores with a percentile ranking of 50 or higher on the verbal, quantitative, and writing sections. This equates to about 150 in both the verbal and quantitative portions and a 4 in the writing section.
The GRE is waived for the International Affairs Graduate Program until the end of 2026. This requirement will automatically be waived in your online application.
Statement of Purpose

We consider all of your admissions documents when evaluating your qualifications to earn a graduate degree in our International Affairs program. Your statement of purpose is one of the most important parts of your graduate admissions application. Be sure to read over your statement prior to submission! We take grammar, spelling, writing style, and tone into consideration. Your statement of purpose should be:
Double-spaced
12 pt. font, and
No more than two (2) pages in length
Resume

A resume should be concise, easy-to-read, grammatically correct, well-composed, and properly formatted. Please limit your resume to a maximum of two (2) pages. Letters of Recommendation:
We do not accept letters of recommendation sent directly from applicants. The online application will prompt you to submit an email address for your references in the Recommendations section. All letters of recommendation are considered part of your admissions file. They will only be used for admissions consideration and will not be disclosed to any unauthorized individual without your consent.
