The Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science provides graduate programs in Geological Sciences, offering both Master's and Doctoral degrees. The Master of Science serves as a professional qualification, equipping graduates with the analytical abilities and technical expertise to conduct advanced research while building a comprehensive foundation for scientific careers. The M.S. curriculum combines specialized coursework across Geological Sciences disciplines with an original thesis project. While less extensive than a Ph.D. dissertation, the M.S. thesis demonstrates scientific rigor—presenting a testable hypothesis, employing systematic methodologies, and adhering to scholarly standards. Completing the M.S. program demands substantial dedication and intellectual engagement, requiring deeper specialization than undergraduate studies.
