The department provides Master of Science (MS), Master of Engineering (MEng), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs with specializations in structural, geotechnical, transportation, construction, water resources, and environmental engineering. Key focus areas in civil engineering encompass bridge design and management systems, cement-based materials, construction project oversight, wind engineering, geo-environmental studies, pavement systems, transportation networks with multimodal approaches, disaster preparedness, computer-aided design tools, decision support systems, and the combination of physical and computational modeling for civil infrastructure. Water resources studies concentrate on fluid mechanics, water cycle processes, groundwater dynamics, and simulations of river basins and coastal regions. Environmental engineering priorities cover water purification, treatment of potable and wastewater, contamination cleanup, hazardous material handling, environmental systems evaluation, and sustainable practices.

Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering or science discipline from an accredited college or university.
Good academic standing at the academic institution last attended.
A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all coursework attempted as an upper division student (beyond 60 semester credit hours).
The GRE requirement has been waived (and extended) for all engineering master's applicants through Fall 2026.
Research Area of Interest Form - Select up to two research areas of interest. Indicate which faculty members you are interested in working with.
CV/Resume - Information should be current.
Statement of Purpose describing reasons for pursuing the Master of Science degree and career goals.
Three signed letters of recommendation on official letterheads, from academic or professionals attesting to the MS/Thesis study potential of the applicant.
