Student conductors gain diverse experience by working with large ensembles, including both audition-based and open college groups. As key members of FSU's choral and instrumental programs, graduate conductors participate fully in managing these collegiate ensembles, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. The program fosters collaboration, helping students develop valuable professional connections that benefit their careers. Conductors frequently collaborate with peers throughout the College of Music, establishing numerous enduring relationships. Beyond instruction from conducting professors, students benefit from world-class faculty in music education, vocal performance, music theory, and music history. The program actively promotes learning through peer observation and discussion.
