All admitted students automatically qualify for potential support through research/teaching assistantships and scholarships. Enrolled students gain access to funding for academic research, conference attendance, and have a proven history of securing prestigious national and international fellowships. The interconnected nature of scholarship, musical performance, and community involvement, combined with our dynamic research environment, creates meaningful connections between students, faculty, and global communities. Program participants can pursue specialized tracks in early music and world music alongside their main concentration.
Our program benefits from exceptional resources including the renowned Warren D. Allen Music Library, comprehensive collections of historical and world music instruments, the FSU Sound and Video Archives, and a specialized World Music Iconography Archive.
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average (GPA) in all coursework attempted while enrolled as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree.
