This program provides international law graduates with comprehensive knowledge of the U.S. legal framework and its societal impact. Every participant benefits from individualized guidance, working closely with faculty advisors to create tailored academic plans. LL.M. candidates fully immerse in the College of Law environment, attending classes with J.D. students. This integration fosters global professional connections and collaboration with FSU's distinguished professors and juris doctor candidates. Our multilingual faculty offers instruction in Spanish, Portuguese, and Mandarin. Regular social gatherings facilitate networking with peers, faculty, and administrators, enhancing both LL.M. and J.D. students' readiness for international legal practice. Graduates who fulfill all requirements earn a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in American Law for Foreign Lawyers.
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average (GPA) in all coursework attempted while enrolled as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree; or A graduate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Any international applicant to the LL.M in American Law or the LL.M in Business Law who earned his or her first law degree outside the U.S. must obtain a minimum TOEFL score of 80 or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5. Applicants to the LL.M. in Environmental Law must obtain a minimum TOEFL score of 90 or a minimum IELTS score of 7.5.
