The Master of Fine Arts program aims to equip students with the discipline, training, and artistic insight needed to thrive as working artists and creative professionals. Our curriculum fosters creative problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity while grounding students in both contemporary and traditional artistic practices. These competencies prepare graduates for diverse careers as professional artists, designers, educators, arts administrators, museum professionals, gallery operators, and other creative fields.
With only 33 spots available, our selective MFA program admits graduate students based on demonstrated artistic achievement, work ethic, and dedication. Our distinguished faculty and accomplished alumni maintain a culture of excellence. Students work in our CAB studio complex, which features private graduate studios, the Working Method Contemporary Gallery, and specialized media workspaces.
To cultivate creativity and artistic development, we provide regular faculty critiques, thesis reviews, and opportunities for peer collaboration. Our instructors mentor students in technical execution, conceptual development, and professional practices while helping refine their artistic research, production methods, and public visibility.
This 60-credit program includes at least 30 studio art credits, 12 elective credits (which may be taken outside the department), 9 graduate-level academic credits, and 9 credits dedicated to thesis exhibition preparation. Our workshop-based approach and interdisciplinary philosophy encourage experimental exploration across media, including ceramics, design, drawing, digital media, installation, painting, paper arts, performance, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video production.
