The College of Law and Sport Management Department offer a combined J.D./M.S. degree pathway, allowing students to pursue both programs simultaneously. Law students interested in this option should consult with the College of Law's joint pathway coordinator and submit required admission materials by July 1 after their first year. The coordinator will forward the complete application package to both academic units for review. Applicants who have already taken Sport Management graduate courses or are beyond their first year of law studies must secure written permission from the College of Law before applying to the joint program.
The Juris Doctor program spans three years, starting with fundamental legal studies before advancing to contemporary theoretical and interdisciplinary coursework. First-year students build essential knowledge in legal history, doctrine, and analytical methods, preparing them for specialized upper-level courses. During their second and third years, students enjoy flexible curricula with diverse offerings, including theoretical classes, industry-specific studies (covering fields like healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and sports/entertainment law), and hands-on learning experiences designed to prepare graduates for careers in business, government, and legal practice.
Applicants to the M.S. in Sport Management program must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and are expected to score at or above the 42nd percentile on the verbal and at or above the 36th percentile on the quantitative portions of the GRE.
