The University of Kentucky's Department of Kinesiology & Health Promotion introduces a new 15-credit graduate certificate in health coaching, created to address the additional educational requirements of both practicing health promotion specialists and those pursuing careers in this field. This certificate program welcomes current graduate students in any degree program, as well as individuals applying for postbaccalaureate (non-degree) status specifically to earn the certificate.

Participants can pursue the certificate either alongside their graduate degree studies or as an independent program. Current UK graduate students across all departments are advised to apply for the Health Coaching Graduate Certificate early in their academic journey.

Qualification Requirements

Under ordinary conditions, admission to the Health Coaching Graduate Certificate curriculum requires the following, with all materials uploaded into Apply Yourself:

an undergraduate degree
admission to the University of Kentucky Graduate School**
a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all undergraduate work
minimum GPA of 3.0 in any graduate work
a personal statement (500 word maximum), explaining why the applicant wishes to pursue the Graduate Certificate in Health Coaching
names and contact information for three references
official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work
completion of the certificate application form
Applicants who are not currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at the University of Kentucky must first secure admission to the Graduate School as post-baccalaureate students. International applicants whose native language is not English must submit either a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score. The University of Kentucky requires a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based). For IELTS, a minimum mean band score of 6.5 is required.
