Recognized nationally as one of the most extensive music schools among public universities, Florida State University's College of Music has provided top-tier professional music education for over eight decades. Aspiring professional musicians will find opportunities for artistic and personal development through programs tailored to cultivate composers, performers, scholars, and educators. The College serves as home to diverse musical groups including campus orchestras, bands, choirs, jazz ensembles, early music groups, 9 world music ensembles, multiple chamber groups, plus the Florida State Opera and Music Theater Program. Annually, the College presents approximately 350 performances and events while frequently hosting national conferences, workshops, and festivals like the biennial Festival of New Music.
Within the Piano program, we aim to guide students in discovering and reaching their full potential at the keyboard. This mentorship centers on weekly private instruction, supplemented by studio classes, monthly piano recitals, duo piano sessions, chamber music coaching, accompanying classes for both vocalists and instrumentalists, piano literature and pedagogy courses, and masterclasses with guest artists. The program also features two annual concerto performances. Our facilities boast more than 240 pianos, including exceptional performance instruments like Fazioli and Blüthner models alongside Steinways from both New York and Hamburg across our five concert halls.
