The Mathematics Department provides undergraduate and graduate programs culminating in Bachelor of Science (BS), Bachelor of Arts (BA), Master of Science (MS), Master of Arts (MA), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. (For comprehensive information on graduate programs, refer to the Graduate Bulletin.) High-achieving undergraduates, particularly those with advanced credits, may pursue an accelerated combined degree pathway, enabling them to obtain both bachelor's and master's degrees within approximately five years. A mathematics degree serves as either a cornerstone of liberal arts education or as foundational preparation for advanced studies in other disciplines or mathematics itself. Graduates can pursue careers in industry, finance, government agencies, or academic settings ranging from secondary schools to universities. The Actuarial Science program specifically prepares students for professional roles in insurance and financial services.
The Mathematics Department offers two accredited B.S./M.S. accelerated tracks, permitting students to apply up to 12 credit hours toward both undergraduate and graduate degree requirements.
The Applied and Computational Mathematics (ACM) Graduate Program equips students with rigorous training in mathematical modeling, analytical techniques, algorithmic development, computational methods, and simulation strategies applicable across scientific, engineering, and mathematical disciplines.
