Environmental Engineering: Currently offered as a concentration within the Civil Engineering BS program, this degree results in a diploma stating BS in Civil Engineering. The Environmental Engineering curriculum emphasizes environmental engineering principles, hydraulics, hydrology, water resources, and comprehensive waste stream management. Environmental engineers work to prevent and resolve environmental challenges, participating in numerous public works initiatives funded by federal, state, and local governments, as well as private sector projects.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is dedicated to teaching fundamental civil engineering sciences, analysis methods, design principles, and management strategies to prepare students for professional engineering careers. The department conducts basic and applied research, advances civil engineering knowledge, serves as an engineering information resource for the community, and supports continuing education for professional engineers and interested individuals. A particular commitment exists to expanding civil engineering education access for minority groups and women.
