FIU's post-baccalaureate Graduate Certificate in Communication Sciences & Disorders, offered through the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences, caters to students holding a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field.
This 28-credit curriculum equips learners to assist speech-language pathologists by combining hands-on training with academic coursework. Participants gain expertise in communication disorders, therapeutic approaches, assistive technologies, and techniques for supporting individuals with speech difficulties.
The intensive program runs across four consecutive semesters (including summer terms), culminating in a certificate after completing 10 prerequisite courses. This pathway provides the necessary qualifications for roles as speech-language pathology assistants while also fulfilling entry requirements for our Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program.
