Our Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Student Education prepares teachers of students with disabilities.This major features a field-centered preparation model leading to approval for State of Florida Certification in Exceptional Student Education with ESOL Endorsement and Reading Endorsement. Students are prepared to teach learners with high-incidence disabilities from ages 5-22 and who represent multicultural, multilingual backgrounds.This major focuses on exposing students to individuals with special needs. Students will learn about the specific cognitive, language, and social/emotional developmental needs of individuals with disabilities. Students will also learn about general and early education practices and curricula. Students will select cognates within the major that will provide strategic planning for advanced degrees in areas that serve individuals with special education. This major does not result in a teacher certification.

An international freshman is a student who has completed or will soon complete high school and who has yet to enroll in a 2- or 4-year college or university.
