If you're passionate about uncovering the secrets of deep-sea life, researching great white sharks, or pioneering marine veterinary medicine, Florida Tech's Marine Biology degree can help you achieve your aspirations. As one of the nation's earliest undergraduate marine biology programs, Florida Tech offers one of the most comprehensive curricula available.
Despite covering more than 70% of Earth's surface, oceans remain largely unexplored, with scientists believing we've only investigated a small portion of marine ecosystems. Marine biology studies oceanic and coastal environments and their inhabitants - from microscopic viruses to massive whales - examining everything from molecular processes to worldwide patterns. This degree integrates diverse fields including aquaculture, oceanography, chemistry, meteorology, and zoology.
From the very first semester, our marine biology program actively involves students. Courses like Biological Discovery and General Chemistry launch your academic journey, while first-year students immediately begin hands-on laboratory research. Under the guidance of distinguished faculty, students dive deep into their major from day one.
