Human Factors is the discipline that investigates the scientific principles underlying human performance in human-machine systems. Those pursuing a human factors degree engage in truly interdisciplinary education, exploring elements of psychology, engineering, science, and design with specific application to aviation safety. Students in the human factors and safety program can opt to include the flight track within their major and obtain professional pilot training through FIT Aviation. Situated just minutes from the Florida Tech campus at Melbourne Orlando International Airport, FIT Aviation operates a fleet exceeding 40 aircraft. The varied training inventory includes Piper Archer TX models equipped with Garmin G1000 avionics, along with multi-engine Seminoles and complex Arrows. Ambitious flight students may elect to incorporate aerobatics training as an optional course.
