The Counseling Ph.D. program is a research-focused degree tailored for individuals who have earned a 60-credit master's in counseling, possess professional counselor licensure or certification, and show promise for leadership roles in the counseling field at regional or national levels within academic, clinical, or research environments. Unlike APA-aligned Counseling Psychology Ph.D. programs, this curriculum follows CACREP standards. While prioritizing research and leadership development, it also strengthens students' clinical, supervisory, and consulting abilities.
The 60-credit minimum program includes core requirements and specialized tracks in areas such as: Leadership and Supervision, School Counseling Outcomes Research, Interventions for Children/Adolescents/Couples/Families, and Enhancing Human Development and Wellness. Participants receive research mentorship throughout their dissertation process.
This competitive, rigorous program can be finished in three years of full-time enrollment, accepting up to 6 new students each semester with fall-term admissions. Graduate assistantship funding opportunities exist for qualified candidates.
