The Cultures, Languages and Literatures Program at Florida Atlantic University offers an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary doctoral curriculum that allows students to build specialized knowledge both within conventional academic fields and across cultural and disciplinary lines. Our program's foundation lies in the understanding that comparative analytical approaches, incorporating evolving theoretical frameworks and methodologies, provide the richest understanding of cultures, languages, and literatures.

Through an integrated curriculum, this program fosters interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary scholarship. Students first complete a shared interdisciplinary core before working with their advisory committees to design specialized study paths that may cross multiple disciplines. We motivate students to examine cultural, linguistic, and literary topics through diverse lenses and to synthesize these viewpoints using interdisciplinary methods.
