The Department of Secondary Education, Technology Education, and Foundations provides various undergraduate teacher preparation programs for secondary education in specific subject areas. These state-certified programs include music education with specializations in wind/percussion or voice/piano, along with secondary education concentrations in biology, chemistry, English, history, mathematics, physics, and political science education. Additionally, the department offers a state-approved Professional Training Option (PTO) program, enabling students pursuing certain non-education degrees to obtain provisional certification. Note that Florida's evolving teacher certification standards may change current requirements. Students should regularly consult with the department and their academic advisors for the latest updates.
