The Construction Engineering Technology program provides specialized education in contemporary construction methods. Its objective is to develop highly skilled graduates with a strong foundation in engineering and construction/civil principles.
Graduates are prepared to collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other construction stakeholders (both vertical and horizontal projects). Typical career paths include roles in project estimating, erection, supervision, or management. These capabilities stem from comprehensive training in construction methods and materials, surveying, estimation techniques, computer applications, contractual agreements, and legal matters. All students must cultivate technical writing and public speaking abilities. Additionally, students may take courses in GIS systems, landscape design, surveying, engineering, and technology through the Construction Engineering Technology program and other academic departments at FAMU. Graduates are advised to obtain OSHA 30-Hour certification, complete at least two internships, and demonstrate proficiency in computer programming and software applications.
Students should have completed high school education.
