In the 21st century, humanity's environmental impact is evident across multiple dimensions. Although technological progress and our growing knowledge of natural systems and human psychology could address ecological challenges, effectively combining insights from diverse academic fields and government institutions remains crucial. The Master of Science in Environmental Sciences at Emory fundamentally aims to bridge ecological and geological sciences with policy studies and social sciences.
Participants in the Environmental Sciences M.S. program will acquire substantial research expertise via thesis work, faculty guidance, and mandatory immersive research projects. Alongside research, the curriculum focuses on developing strong quantitative abilities, with students completing a year-long environmental statistics course sequence. Additionally, all students will obtain teaching practice by working as Teaching Assistants for a minimum of one semester during their studies.
The M.S. in Environmental Sciences is an interdisciplinary program and as such, applicants may have undergraduate backgrounds across a wide range of disciplines.
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is recommended, but not required (scores must be from the last five years)
If you are an international applicant, you may need to submit TOEFL scores.
