The Division of Physical Therapy at Emory University School of Medicine, in partnership with Georgia Tech's Applied Physiology Program and other departments, provides a combined degree opportunity. This program grants a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Emory alongside a PhD in Applied Physiology from Georgia Tech's School of Biological Sciences. DPT students pursuing research careers can apply for the dual DPT-PhD Program during their second year. Accepted candidates start their PhD studies while completing their final year of DPT coursework.
Students in the DPT/PhD Program are recruited from exceptional students enrolled in the Emory DPT program. Students are encouraged to identify a research sponsor/advisor prior to applying to the PhD program. Interested students make formal application for admission to Georgia Tech during their second year of the DPT.
