Emory University's Division of Physical Therapy offers a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program spanning thirty-five months from June to May over three years. Most credits needed for graduation must be completed within Emory's School of Medicine. The initial semesters concentrate on human anatomy, movement science throughout life stages, and essential practice skills like communication and teaching methods. Starting the third semester, coursework combines disease processes with clinical reasoning exercises. After completing foundational courses like General Medical Conditions, Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, and Neuro/Pediatric Rehabilitation, students undertake a two-week clinical observation period. Degree candidates must finish three 10-week full-time clinical internships during years two and three at various practice settings. Students select from clinical sites across Atlanta, Georgia, and nationally. The final year includes research projects supervised by faculty and specialized electives. All graduates must pass a state licensing exam, for which an accredited program like Emory's is prerequisite.
All post-secondary education will include a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, as well as post-baccalaureate degrees and other coursework not undertaken for a degree.
If you are an international applicant, you may need to submit TOEFL scores.
Application Deadline is October 15.
